MIDWAY ARCADES
SAT 24 FEB - FRI 1 MAR 12:00PM
Void, Melbourne
EXHIBITION
The exhibition 'Midway Arcades' consists of two levels of recent work by Jane O'Neill, a mid-career artist with an interest in Hydrofeminism as a means for understanding the fluid relationship between the body and the broader world. The ground floor exhibition will run till Friday 1 March.
A driving interest in O'Neill's work is fluidity – the way that water is contained by humans in settings such as bathrooms and swimming pools; our relationship to water in an increasingly hostile climate of ecological disaster; the consideration of water in the things we consume; and the fluidity in interpersonal relations between people.
Free to attend, no booking required.
**This event is independently produced by Jane O’Neill and forms part of our Independent Programme.
ABOUT THE ORGANISERS
Jane O'Neill is a mid-career artist with an extensive history of exhibiting, writing and curating, predominantly in Australia since 1996. Their practice includes installation, collage, painting and textiles. Much of O'Neill's artwork employs materials that are regarded as easily discardable. For the past three years the artist has been occupied with the use of denim as a surface on which to further explore the phenomena of water.
