“THIS IS MY T-SHIRT” WORKSHOP

SATURDAY 21 FEBRUARY
1:30PM – 4:30PM

WORKSHOP

Have you ever come across a garment you loved, checked the price and thought, “I could make this myself”? Or found that store-bought clothing never quite fits your proportions or personal style?

If so, this beginner pattern-making class is the perfect place to start.

In this workshop you will learn the foundations of creating your own patterns through a clear, step-by-step introduction to measuring, drafting and completing a basic pattern from scratch. You’ll take your own measurements and draft a front, back, and sleeve pattern for a simple t-shirt. Giving you the skills to create clothing that truly fits the way you want it to.

Join local technical creative Sam Gehrich for a practical, hands-on introduction to the foundations of patternmaking. She’ll guide you through taking accurate body measurements and turning them into a real flat paper pattern — the blueprint behind every great piece of clothing.

This workshop is beginner-friendly and open to anyone with a curious mind. No sewing or pattern-making experience is required — just the willingness to explore something new.

Please note: This class focuses on pattern drafting only. We will not be cutting or sewing a garment. You will be taking home a personalised paper pattern that you can then go and bring to life yourself.

Part of Wyndham City Council’s The Tapestry of Culture program, this workshop is designed to showcase the beauty and significance of clothing across different cultures, from traditional clothing techniques workshops to explorations of fashion history from around the world.
