We can’t make the Festival happen without the invaluable support of our volunteers.
At the Festival, we provide an engaging and hands-on experience within an inclusive, supportive and fun environment. Our volunteers develop deep knowledge of Australia’s fashion industry, network with trailblazers and creatives across various fields and make life-long friends along the way.
The Volunteer Programme consists of two teams:
Event Production Assistants – Front of House
Runway Production Assistants – Back of House
Volunteers can take on shifts during the pre-production and post-production event stages, depending on their interests and experience.

Event Production Assistant – Front of House
Volunteer duties may include:
Venue / Runway set-up
Back of House area set-up
Production team & catering assistance
Support in keeping event areas clean and eliminate hazards
Assisting with runway turnover in-between shows
Assisting the Front of House management team with ushering and ticketing
Assisting with ‘Gift-Me’ stations and gift bag fulfilment to share complimentary gifts and samples to Festival customers
Assisting Guests with accessibility, finding their way to and around the venue and their seats
Assisting with Guest experience elements
Desired qualities for this position:
Friendly customer service manners
Have good communication skills
Be communicative and proactive
Be able to follow direction
Shifts: The average shift duration for Front of House & Production Assistants is 4-5 hours. Many of the shifts take place during events in the late afternoon / evening.
Runway Production Assistant – Back of House
Duties include:
Preparing garments, steaming garments, and taping shoes
Assisting the Back of House manager, Head Dresser, and Stylist Teams
Assisting in Dressing a Runway model and changing looks for the show
Familiarising yourself with the running order of the outfits and practice during the show rehearsal
Making the magic happen during shows!
Desired qualities for this position:
Experience in a dresser role
Be communicative and proactive
Be considerate and discreet
Be patient, expect a day of slow, slow – fast, fast
Shifts: Dressers are often required to do double shifts, taking up a 12-hour day as runway events usually take place in the evening, with the rehearsal earlier in the day. Plenty of breaks and meals will be provided and you will also be briefed the start of each shift.
Collection Assistant – Back of House
Volunteer Duties may Include:
Setting up the collection’s venue
Setting up clothes racks
Preparing garments, steaming garments, and taping shoes
Assisting the Collections Coordinator with general Collections Venue duties
Assisting in (un)packing and checking off Designer and supplier collections pre-and post-shows
Desired qualities for this position:
Have previous experience with handling Designer clothes and collections
Be organised and tidy
Be delicate and precise
Shifts: Usually, collection assistant shifts have a standard shift duration of 8 hours at take place during business hours.
Stylist & Head Dresser Assistant – Senior Position – Back of House
Stylist & Head Dresser Assistants support the Stylist Team in the overall organisation of a Runway Show, regarding the designer collections and accessories.
Styling Assistants will learn the ropes in the preparation of a runway show, immerse themselves in the runway collection and looks, help backstage during the event, and assist with the collection pack-down after the event.
Volunteer duties may include:
Assisting the Runway Team with show prep in the lead up to the runway event
Assisting during the model fittings
Assisting the Runway Team during the show and ensure models are in the correct outfits
Assisting the Runway Team after the show with the collection pack down
Desired qualities for this position:
Have previous experience in a back of house runway setting
Be communicative and proactive
Be organised and tidy
Be delicate and precise
Shifts: Each runway show will have its own Styling Assistants. Assistants need to be flexible as shifts are carried out in a set schedule, with an average of 5 double shifts across the week.

To be considered for a volunteering position with the Festival, you must:
Have an interest in Fashion, Arts, and Events
Have a flexible availability during the Festival period 14 February – 28 February 2026
Able to commit to minimum of 16 hours (2-4 shifts) of volunteering
Be punctual and reliable
