NEO CULTURE

SATURDAY 28 FEBRUARY
7:30PM

INDEPENDENT RUNWAY

The Neo-Culture: Street style parade is a groundbreaking fashion showcase celebrating Asian Street Fashion, including subcultural styles that are actively shaping Melbourne’s modern identity. Influences such as Kawaii, K-pop, Batik of Indonesia, alternative fashion, and Shanghai streetwear have become increasingly visible across the city, yet remain underrepresented in major fashion events. Neo-Culture wishes to bring that energy to the centre stage.

This fashion production unveils a dynamic, street-inspired parade dedicated to honouring the creativity and individuality of Asian streetwear. Models will show off curated looks that embody the diversity and expressive nature of these styles. Designers, both established professionals and emerging students will contribute signature garments, demonstrating the exceptional talent that fuels Melbourne’s evolving fashion landscape.

Neo-Culture will remain partially under wraps until closer to its debut. On closing night, attendees will witness a surprise “streetstyle parade” staged outside the venue that catches guests, media team, and industry creatives off guard. This orchestrated moment of organised chaos will highlight bold silhouettes, playful and expressive posing, and the authentic confidence embedded in Asian street-style culture.
Neo-Culture aims to foster genuine appreciation for Asian-inspired street fashion, elevating the designers, stylists, models, and creatives who champion it. By spotlighting this influential movement in a major festival setting, we seek to recognise its cultural significance and strengthen its place within Melbourne’s broader fashion narrative.

  • Neo-Culture is led by a dynamic collective of emerging and established creatives whose diverse backgrounds shape a uniquely bold, community-driven vision for Melbourne’s fashion landscape. Each member brings a distinct artistic language, forming a team grounded in conceptual thinking, cultural dynamics, exploration, and an unwavering commitment to expressive fashion.

Kimiie, a Hong Kong fashion design student based in Melbourne, draws inspiration from J-fashion, cosplay, and expressive garments. Her work explores identity, emotion, and self-presentation through bold experimentation and meticulous craftsmanship.

Bee is a Zimbabwean creative whose work ranges from fashion, cosplay, performance, and media. With experience working alongside ACMI, major pop-culture conventions, and community workshops, they bring a powerful blend of cultural knowledge, stewardship, costume design, and industry experience.

Shen is a Malaysian fashion student obsessed with contemporary Asian street fashion, forever building her dream wardrobe, connecting with other fashion creatives, and dreaming up a louder, more connected Asian fashion community in Melbourne.

Carlos is a Filipino fashion designer with a background in fine arts and beauty. Taking inspiration from the Surrealism movement and culture, he expresses this through his sculptural and hand painted garments. His practices are all tied, finding himself at the forefront of all his productions from start to finish.

Solène, a French-Irish fashion student, who blends business and design with a poetic, story-driven approach to creativity. A self-described third-culture kid, she thrives across fashion, sports, and culture; bringing energy, curiosity, and collaborative spirit to every project.

Tom approaches style through a lens of conceptual fashion-anthropology, exploring the social and cultural narratives that shape identity. His perspective brings critical depth to the team’s creative direction.

Together, this team forms the heart of Neo-Culture, united by a shared mission to amplify Asian streetwear, elevate emerging talent, and redefine the creative pulse of Melbourne’s fashion scene.
