From migrants to leaders in Australian fashion, uncover the history of Melbourne’s schmatte (rag) business with this curated walk with the Jewish Museum of Australia. Tour Flinders Street and its surrounds and explore the rise of the textile trade; from the origins of iconic Australian brands such as MYER and Portmans, to Helmut Newton‘s (1920–2004) Flinders Lane studio that launched his career as a world-renowned fashion photographer.
