Dr Kate Jones is a Technical Lead and Science Ambassador at Oritain Global Limited, which uses forensic science verification of origin to provide traceability in supply chains. In the 7 years at Oritain, Kate has driven the productization and science delivery of the cotton, wool, mohair, and cashmere verification programs. A key aspect of her work is the scoping and bridging of the science to address questions facing supply chain traceability and sustainability claims in the fashion industry.

Prior to her work at Oritain, Kate worked in applied earth sciences and engineering with focus on environmental monitoring and remediation in Australasia. She also worked as a research scientist investigating chemistry in coastal systems within New Zealand and Australia. 

Originally from North Carolina in the US, Kate now calls Dunedin New Zealand home along with her husband and two children. On the weekends you can find Kate outdoors hiking with the family, trail running or playing tennis.
