MELBOURNE NOIR RUNWAY
MONDAY 23 FEBRUARY
8:30PM
Designers featured: Akira, Blair Archibald, Con Ilio, Et Al, Gail Sorronda, Hyph-n, Joteo, Nicol & Ford, Strateas Carlucci x AFL
To celebrate 30 years of the Festival, we are introducing two unique new runway concepts on our much-anticipated opening night. In direct contrast to the Joywear Runway at 6.45pm, the Melbourne Noir Runway is rooted in the city’s fashion psyche, where black is more than a colour; it’s a cultural signature.
Do Melburnians only wear black? We're playing into the stereotype. Known as one of the world’s ‘noir’ capitals, Melbourne adopted the all-black look as it’s unofficial uniform in the 80s and it has become synonymous with our galleries, laneways and unpredictable weather.
Proving that boldness doesn’t require colour, expect sculptural silhouettes, interesting textures and shadowy drama in this ode to Melbourne’s enduring love affair with black.
The very first night of our Premium Runway Series, this runway is not to be missed. Tickets are in high demand, so get in quick to secure you seats!
