An exciting runway event set in the spectacular architectural backdrop of The Capitol, this special showcase brings two of Indonesia’s prominent designers to Australian audiences. This is an exciting opportunity to see creative designs that explore cultural expertise and contemporary South-East Asian fashion design. The runway show invites guests to reflect on the fashion from one of our closest neighbours, consider potential cultural and creative pathways, and experience the best of Indonesian fashion here in Melbourne/Naarm.
This event continues a partnership between RMIT and the Australian Embassy Indonesia, a collaboration that champions cross-cultural creative exchange and excellence.

RMIT Fashion and Textiles Design and the Australian Embassy Jakarta are proud to continue a partnership that began in 2024, marking the 75th Anniversary of Australia-Indonesia bilateral relationship. For MFF 2026 their collaboration aims to celebrate the creative excellence of two of Indonesia’s most prominent designers. The two institutions share a passion for the potentials of fashion and textiles to share stories and culture, and are committed to showcasing thoughtful and exciting fashion and textile design that celebrates culture and exchange. Led by Associate Dean Design, Dr Tassia Joannides, Associate Lecturer Kate Reynolds, and Lecturer Dr Emma Lynas.
