ECHOES IN THE DOME

SUNDAY 15 FEBRUARY
7:00PM + 8:15PM

INDEPENDENT RUNWAYS

Echoes in the Dome presents an immersive salon show redefining the relationship between fashion, movement, and space. Curated by the RMIT Cohort in collaboration with the RMIT RUSU Fashion Society, and presented at the Norla Dome at the Mission to Seafarers Victoria, a heritage-listed Docklands landmark since 1917, Echoes in the Dome unfolds within historic walls that echo a century of maritime and architectural legacy, bringing avant-garde design into dialogue with heritage architecture.

Unlike a traditional runway, Echoes in the Dome unfolds as a slow, reflective performance—an experiential journey where models and performers move freely within the space. Through choreographed interactions of body, fabric and sound, audiences are invited to engage with fashion as living art. The show merges live music and contemporary choreography by the dance academy, creating a dialogue between heritage, sustainability and modern craftsmanship.

Each designer from RMIT reinterprets time-honoured techniques such as tailoring, weaving and textile manipulation through digital fabrication and experimental silhouettes. The result is a collection that celebrates longevity, adaptability and circular design, highlighting the future of sustainable fashion.Set within the breathtaking architecture of the Norla Dome, Echoes in the Dome delivers a reflective, powerful experience uniting art, culture and innovation.

At its core, Echoes in the Dome invites audiences to reconsider the role of fashion in a changing world—not only as an expression of beauty, but as a medium for dialogue, awareness, and connection. Through the fusion of movement, sound, and design, the show encourages viewers to slow down, witness, and imagine fashion as a catalyst for meaningful change.
