CIRCULAR FASHION NOW: SYSTEMS

THURSDAY 26 FEBRUARY
5:30PM – 8:00PM

TALK

Circular Sourcing and A.BCH World will bring together leaders across fashion, textiles, sustainability and technology for Circular Fashion Now: Systems. The panel event and networking session will highlight practical circular fashion solutions and launch The Guide to Surplus, a new global resource created with support from the Country Road Climate Fund.

The purpose of the event is to spotlight the growing community of circular fashion innovators working across material recovery, surplus utilisation, circular design, recycling technologies and local value-chain infrastructure, and to foster cross-sector collaboration.

Circular Sourcing and A.BCH World will also officially launch The Guide to Surplus at the event. The Guide responds to a major gap in practical resources for designers and manufacturers wanting to integrate surplus textiles into their sourcing strategies. It has already been downloaded in 29 countries, underscoring the global appetite for surplus strategies. Globally, the fashion and textile industry generates around 26 million tonnes of surplus textiles each year, with an estimated $500 million AUD left unused in Australia

The Guide provides a systematised method for working with surplus textiles, case studies and templates for implementation, including use of the Surplus Impact Calculator, allowing businesses to quantify the carbon, water and waste savings achieved when using surplus materials over new.

Circular Fashion Now will bring together practitioners from across the supply chain to discuss current opportunities, barriers and pathways for scaling circularity in practice. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with founders, researchers and industry partners driving innovation..
