ALL DOLLED UP

SATURDAY 22 FEBRUARY
5:00PM

P.A.M OUTPOST @ MANE, LEVEL 1/8 PEEL ST, COLLINGWOOD

A collaboration between Melbourne designers P.A.M and S!X, recutting PAM's archival garments.

For the performance, dolls made from scavenged single-use plastic bags and mimicking iconic fashion looks are pinned to the performers’ garments. These garments are items from PAM’s archive, recut to form strange surfaces and shapes. The dolls are based upon the Guatemalan worry doll, which children place beneath their pillow at night to relieve them of their worries. The audience are invited to write down their worldly or personal worries and cares on a tag attached to a doll and pinned to the performer, who then carries away their troubles and concerns.

Free to attend, bookings essential

They have exhibited in L’Éclaireur in Paris and in exhibitions in Oaxaca, Mexico; Borås Sweden; Utsonomiya, Japan; and Athens, Greece.

S!X have won a Victorian Premier’s Design Award, The Emerging Designer Award at the Melbourne Fashion Festival and the Hobart Art Prize.

They have been commissioned by Schiavello to design workspace accessories and also dressed Toni Collette, Michael Stipe and the Sleepy Jackson. They have worked on costumes for the short films ‘This Marching Girl Thing’ and ‘Two Girls and a Baby’ and show regularly at fashion festivals and in exhibitions in Australia.

S!X support material culture and are members of the World Shibori Network. Boyd and Sprynskyj currently teach at RMIT University School of Fashion & Textiles as Senior lecturers in Fashion Design.
