Ian was appointed Managing Director, of Kmart Australia in February 2016 and assumed the responsibility for leading Wesfarmers’ Kmart Group division (encompassing the Kmart Australia, Target Australia, and ANKO businesses) in November 2018.

Prior to this Ian was Kmart’s Chief Operating Officer where he was instrumental in Kmart’s establishment and clarity of purpose, developing a strategic blueprint and an operational architecture for the transformation of Kmart’s business model from a traditional discount store chain to an innovative, modern, hybrid retail model which is as much about product development as it is about retail.  

Today, Kmart is noted as one of the most trusted and loved brands in Australia and New Zealand along with being number one in the Global Fashion Transparency Index.  Ian’s national and international experience in leadership, along with his unwavering passion for customers, products and team members has established him as one of the leading lights in Australian retail.
